Project Overview:
over the course of 12 weeks Marcel and twelve students + one Assistant, designed and build a headstone storage and restoration facility for Columbia Cemetery in Boulder. The Columbia Cemetery is a historic landmark and one of the oldest cemeteries in Boulder. By using high tech fabrication and pre-fabrication strategies, combined with low tech durable/sustainable and affordable materials, students were able to complete the project on time and on budget. About 7-8 weeks were spent on the design and navigating through the bureaucracies of landmark board review processes and State historic fund approvals, as well as obtaining a building permit. The last 4 weeks were spend on assembly and erection of partial pre-fabricated components.
